Lone Fighters
01.04 – 31.12.2024
In 2024, OXUS successfully implemented the project Lone Fighters (Einsame Kämpferinnen). As part of this initiative, we produced a series of TV programs titled Lone Fighters, which highlighted the restrictions and challenges faced by women in Afghanistan.
The primary goal of the project was to raise awareness and deepen understanding among target audiences in Austria about the crisis faced by women under Taliban rule and their silent resistance.
We aimed to engage both the Afghan community and the wider Austrian society by shedding light on human rights and women’s rights issues in Afghanistan, while encouraging active engagement and solidarity.
This TV series covered topics such as alternative education and employment opportunities for girls and women, the situation of teachers in underground schools, the struggles of activist women, solidarity and unity with Afghan women, as well as advocacy for women’s rights within a socio-political framework.
The broadcasts were produced in two languages, German and Farsi, and were distributed through Oxus TV, Okto TV, and posted on VIDC’s social media platforms. During the project period, we reached an audience of at least 200,000 viewers across various channels.
This project was funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and produced in collaboration with Okto TV, with VIDC providing supervision for the initiative.
