ECRE, 24.03.2022
On March 24 ECRE organised a round Roundtable with the aim of following objectives:
* Taking stock of the EU’s response to the situation in Afghanistan following the collapse of the
Afghan government: what lessons have been learned?
* Discussing the EU’s immediate and long-term priorities to the situation in Afghanistan.
* Identifying responsibilities of the international community and the EU in preventing the
humanitarian crisis and supporting Afghan people.
* What has been done so far on safe and legal pathways to Europe for Afghans at risk?
* Elaborating how safe pathways for people at risk such as humanitarian admission or family reunification can be expanded and speeded up
In this roundtable EU policymakers, Member States’ representatives, ECRE member organisations, Afghan diaspora organisations and recently evacuated Afghan human rights defenders have participated.
