As we conclude 2018, we reflect on the year as one with many achievements at OXUS. We worked on several projects including cultural, sports, and other Afghanistan-related work.
- OXUS started working on launching Oxus TV. The project is the only Persian-speaking media TV for refugees and asylum seekers of Afghan origin in Austria.
- Also in 2018, OXUS conducted several training workshops in journalism, theatre, and music that targeted Afghan refugees living in Austria.
- OXUS developed a great working relationship with other organizations including VIDC, Flamme des Friedens, OKTO TV, VHS Hietzing, Act NOW, and IGOR to name just a few.
- Welt der Frauen dedicated a full page for OXUS’s 2018 activities and considered Tanya Kaihan, founder and chairwoman at OXUS as one of the most successful women with a refugee background in Austria.
- OXUS organized the first cultural expo in Vienna which attracted the attention of ORF 2 and it made a report about the expo, reaching more than 50 thousand people over their social channels alone. ORF 2 is the most viewed media in Austria.
- Sport was another cultural activity that OXUS focused on. It supported Shir Khan Ghulami in the 9th round of bodybuilding competition in Europe.
- Tanya Kayhan of OXUS the only Afghan with a refugee background participated in NECS conference held at UVA in Amsterdam where she delivered her speech about the policies of Austrian media in regard to refugees and asylum seekers.
- In line with previous years, OXUS delivered a presentation in cooperation with Kompa explaining the socio-political, cultural, and economic situation of Afghanistan to Austrian audience.
- OXUS with the cooperation of the Hamgraie Association, held a remembrance day for the fallen military personnel of Afghanistan.
- OXUS hopes the new year will bring more happiness to the Afghan people inside the country and abroad.
