Saving freedom of expression!

As a media initiative association, we feel a responsibility to help our colleagues at risk around the world. Therefore, this year we decided to support journalists living in dire conditions in Afghanistan.

To save 2 Afghan journalists from poverty, we have started crowdfunding on “respekt.net.” We want to hire two journalists as freelancers for one year for our TV channels who lost their jobs after the Taliban took power in Afghanistan and are now struggling to make a living.

We are planning to help two Afghan journalists overcome poverty. For this reason, we have started a crowdfunding camping on “respect.net.” – with your donation and support, and we will be able to hire the two journalists based on freelance contracts for 12 months.

Following the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in August 2021, seventy percent of the media outlets in the country faced closure – resulting in a mass loss of jobs for the media workers.

According to a survey by the National Union of Journalists of Afghanistan published on October 3, 2021, only thirty percent of media outlets in 28 provinces of Afghanistan have remained active.
